DIY Hair & Beauty During Isolation

How To Stay Fabulous at Home – Top Tips From Syer Hair & Beauty Salon in Sutton Coldfield

Many women are reporting concern over the temporary closure of salons during this challenging time. Whilst DIY hair & beauty tips will not provide the professional salon quality results that you have come to expect at Syer Hair & Beauty Salon in Sutton Coldfield, we have created a list of ways to keep you feeling pampered until your next appointment…..

Areas We Cover

Sutton Coldfield

Birmingham

Tamworth

Lichfield and beyond...

Double Wash Your Face

We all know that you should wash your face each night, to remove the build up of dirt that accumulates during the day. However, did you know that you should always wash your face twice? The first wash will remove make up and debris, but will not really clean your face. A second wash will help to dissolve deeper dirt, oil and slough away dead skin cells, giving you a much more thorough cleanse.

Try A Professional Root Concealer

If your growing roots are dragging your mood down during isolation, why not try a growth touch-up kit which allows you to discreetly enhance, retouch or blend away greys. We would recommend the Colour Wow palette or the L’Oreal Professionnel Hair Touch Up Root Concealer Spray, which can both be applied to dry hair and wont effect your hair colour.

Do It Yourself – Classic Manicures at Home

There’s nothing quite like a manicure to make our whole look feel polished. Whilst nail extensions or nail art may not be an option with the isolation situation, keeping your nails in good condition can be achieved at home using some simple steps :

  • Soak your nails in warm, soapy water & cleanse them thoroughly
  • Push cuticles back gently
  • Shape your nails and buff the top & edges to avoid snagging, smooth ridges and provide an even surface
  • Choose your colour, ensuring that you use a base and top coat to protect your polish
  • Moisturise

Hair Colour at Home?

Many shop bought box hair dyes tend to look NOTHING like they do on the box. This is because they are a “one size fits all” colour which don’t factor your base colour, natural highlights and hair condition, unlike a professional hair colour service at Syer Hair & Beauty Salon in Sutton Coldfield.

We’ve all heard the hair colour horror stories of bottle blonde hair coming out orange, green or even snapping! If you attempt to colour your hair at home and it goes wrong, you may need a professional hair colour correction once we are open again – this will take both time and money to rectify. Don’t risk a hair colour disaster – hold on until we reopen!

Stay Smooth at Home

If you visit us regularly for hair removal, this time at home may be concerning for you, especially with the warmer seasons coming. Whilst we would not usually recommend shaving, whilst at home this may be a good option for a quick fix. We can always get you back into a professional hair removal routine when we reopen.

For a super smooth finish, use a quality shaving cream and after the first shave, use an olive oil or sugar based scrub to exfoliate your skin. Then, just as with double washing your face, you should shave again. The exfoliation step removes even more dead skin cells and helps to provide a sleek, hair free finish.
